In Summer: An efficient circulation in the water garden will prevent a lack of oxygen and slow down the growth of green algae. Underwater plants can clean the water by binding nutrients and producing oxygen. Floating pond plants will further provide shadow to the warming of the water and some cover for the fish.

In Autumn: All dead vegetation has to be removed from the fishpond and mud should be sucked off the ground. Install pond netting covers before autumn leaf-fall starts. Water pumps and filters should be taken out of the water garden, cleaned and stored in a frost-free place. Reduce fish feeding or even stop it.

In Winter: Avoid the pond is freezing through or completely over by keeping temperatures stable with pond heaters. Provide the exchange of gases through the whole wintertime by keeping a part of the fishpond free of ice with electronic De-Icer.
